Thanks so much for posting the clips!! It's really an eye-opener. Actually this kind of intense questioning of government action by members of the opposition is not at all uncommon - in fact, it is vital - in a functioning democracy (take for example the recent Congress debates in the US where for the first time Congressmen were doing their job as representatives of their citizens in questioning the bailout package rather than simply being the spineless enablers of the criminal Bush-Cheney administration; or the Prime Minister Question Time in the UK where the Brown government is continually verbally-trounced by the Conservative and the Lib Dems over the same financial mess we all find ourselves in). I'm really glad to see Yuk Man fully utilising his platform at Legco to attempt to hold the financial regulator and the Tsang administration to account.
I wouldn't envy the guy/girl who was tasked with doing simultaneous interpretations during this debate session though. As you said yourself, there are so many "bon mots" in Yuk Man's speech that it would be difficult to translate such gems into English on the spot for non-native Cantonese speakers.
Actually, now that I think about it, I may attempt to translate Yuk Man's speech later on on my blog, if I can find the time that is.
Anyway, thanks again for posting the clips! This is finally giving HK people a taste of what the cut and thrust of democratic politics would look like if HK actually has a democratic system rather than a pretend-one.

其實我覺得任總ok,亦不盡同意yuk man對他的指責
但係佢真係點出兩件事
1...官員的傲慢,這是以前無立圾會議員敢強調的
2..香港對金融體系的監管可能做得唔錯,但係在自由市場經濟的前提下,監管工作出現一些盲點.當然,這未必關任總事,但將會關誰的事?假如政府對這些事情一直是完全無過問的餘地或intention,從這件事看,就真係如鬼佬一句room for improvement了
我唔明點解政府唔引導苦主把事情交上法院.無錢打,正式途徑伸請法援law.當然,如果真係打官司,苦主死得仲快....中銀多錢定苦主多錢?
