Oh Come on! Reach out and touch the world guys (and gals)! Back then when Disney announced that they were going to build the park at HK. Disney’s Imagineering Department drafted a team of staff from California and put them on a 3 years contract – to be relocated to Asia. At that time they already had 2 assignments – one for the park in HK and the other one at Shanghai. These expatriate staff sold their homes to take this sweet deal. I am not surprise that they will spread their parks all over Asia to absorb a market of 12 billion people. Don’t tell me Mr. Tung is that naïve to believe that Disney will plan only ONE and only one park for the whole China.
Remember what Walt Elias Disney told his staff: “I never felt I have a place to take them (his daughters) that could be fun for everyone, no matter their age.”
I was shopping for houses a couple of years ago and there were plenty available in Pasadena area (a city in L.A. area), the owner was one of those who took the offer and he told me he was part of the team, and his colleagues were going to HK with him, also selling their homes. I asked him why he wants to sell his 2500 SF house (worth about US$650k) and move to a place for just 3 years. He said this is the beginning of his assignments and he knew that HK is not the only one. So he saw the opportunity and hey, DIsney was paying for his relocation. So even if he sold the home below market value, he could still got his fare share. I estimated Disney moved about 100 staff to Asia back then (2001).

霜,
Unfortunately, Mr. Tung is that naïve to believe that.
But, on the other side, it seems ur....there is no evidence to corroborate this news after I checked it out from Reuters.

唔,今個星期剛剛去了新的迪士尼,感覺良好啊。希望真的能帶動香港的經濟啦。
Xavier,
真係希望啦! :)
這個世界會否變成一個迪士尼的世界, 我們都變成一個個卡通人物, 原來的面目已模糊, 每天帶著美麗的笑臉, 售賣歡樂.
pema,
人在江湖 誰又笑得真....
